ATWS #40: Artist Spotlight – Daryl Snider

Daryl SniderDaryl Snider is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter who has a passion for peace-building through the arts, particularly through music. He is currently working on a masters degree in that field of study. He has been writing down-to-earth, genuine and hopeful songs filled with imagery and narrative for over a decade, mixing influences from jazz to classical to pop and time spent abroad in Haiti and Brazil.

Having never made a formal album of his original material, Daryl came to the Wood Stove House studio back in the summer of 2010 to begin recording demos of what would eventually become Homemade Toy, his new seven-song EP. Over the next year, we worked with percussionist David Armstrong and fiddler and violist Frances Crowhill Sauder to craft the record, and perform several live shows together under the name Sopa Sol. I had the pleasure of working along side Daryl as producer and bass player on the album and during live shows with the band.
