PA Guild of Craftsmen IconNick Mohler, Program Director at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen joins us for a conversation about the history of the guild, the guild’s new retail store and headquarters at 335 N. Queen St. in Lancaster, and some of their upcoming arts and crafts workshops. The guild boasts 1500 members in 33 states and the headquarters and brand new guild store is bringing a wide variety of handmade decorative and functional art to the area. Nick is also responsible for organizing Lancaster ArtWalk, a weekend celebration of the arts that happens in both the spring and fall. We’ll be catching up with Nick later in the year to talk about fall ArtWalk coming up on October 6 & 7, 2012.
 
Upcoming Events You Should Know About
Join the Lancaster Community Gardens on Thursday August 9th at the Elks Club in downtown Lancaster for a great night of music and conversation to benefit a water well drilling at the Wheatland Community Garden. Admission is a mere $10. Creative Works of Lancaster is producing the outdoor summer theater performance of Room Service, as part of their Works in the Park theater series. The performances, directed by Lydia Brubaker, will be held in Musser Park, in the heart of downtown Lancaster, on August 9, 10, 11 at 7pm. The shows are free and open to the public.
Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart join us for a special Wood Stove House concert on Saturday, August 11 at 7pm. Proceeds benefit Bridge of Hope National. Learn more and make reservations here!

Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation
Each summer, the Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation brings thirteen free concerts to Lancaster on Sunday evenings for thousands and thousands of fans. 2012 marks the 50th anniversary for both the amphitheater and the music series, and to celebrate the foundation is sponsoring a fundraising campaign called Put a Candle on the Cake. You can also link up with the concert series on Facebook and check out this blog post for a lively discussion about the Long’s Park Summer Concert Series and it’s relationship to the local Lancaster, PA music scene.
