Today on the program is Justin Rule from Heads Up Lancaster and Dr. Jill Martin, Principal of Fulton Elementary School. The two organizations are partnering to develop the elementary school into a “community school”. Check out the interview to learn all about this amazing initiative that integrates the arts and the community with the school’s students and their families.

Justin also gives us the background on Heads Up Lancaster that currently coordinates over 20 local urban artists who share their gifts and talents with the youth in Lancaster City. Here’s Tim Riggs, one of the FlameTime artist mentors:

Lancaster Galleries

Joyce Heberlein from Lancaster Galleries, an art gallery in downtown Lancaster is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a special exhibit called The First 30. Joyce the story of how and why she and her husband Michael Heberlein started the gallery and some insight into the history of the Lancaster art scene. She also shared the reasoning behind the selections made for The First 30. The show opens this Lancaster First Friday, March 7.

GET OUT! with Steve Carlson

Steve Carlson brings us news from around the Lancaster visual arts scene and shares his picks for what to check out on this upcoming First Friday in Lancaster. Steve is a writer and teacher at the New School of Lancaster. He also producers theater with the Wood Stove House and serves on the board of Creative Works of Lancaster.
